Program Genesis

In September 2004, just four years after Michael and Edna were married, Edna was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the age of 54. On their way home from Emory University with this diagnosis, Michael promised Edna they would together “make lemonade” by somehow helping others in similar circumstances. Edna lost her battle in April 2020.

During this fifteen-year journey caring for Edna, Michael had come to realize that the suffering and death of millions of people from chronic diseases like Alzheimer’s is potentially avoidable through lifestyle choices. As part of his caregiver research, Michael began following a medical practice trend known as Functional Medicine, which “determines how and why illness occurs and restores health by addressing the root causes of disease for each individual.” (The Institute for Functional Medicine).

Through his thousands of hours of research, Michael began creating a database with links to expert interviews, health breakthroughs, research studies, personal testimonials, future trends, and the steady growth of an entire industry of practitioners. Emerging from this research are what Michael calls ‘audacious health truths’ about functional medicine, which is evolving to what's known as longevity medicine, much of which runs counter to traditional medicine.

Through a steady feed of thought-provoking audacious health truths, it is intended for Life by Natural Causes (LBNC) members to be inspired to take on the challenge of getting healthy by keeping personal health a top-of-mind priority. Through Awareness, Acceptance, Application, Adoption, and Assimilation of this knowledge, under the guidance and support of their own "Team Healthy Me," the science-based research, technological advances, and emerging functional/lifestyle medicine practices are intended to allow members to avoid, reduce and perhaps even reverse their chronic disease. May God bless you dear Edna.
